This is part of a series of works titled “YOLO Man Waltzes Matilda”.
A look at the folk song Waltzing Matilda, its back stories and history as inspired by the new book by W Benjamin Lindner titled “Waltzing Matilda, Australia’s Accidental Anthem” published by Boolarong Press 2019
Eucalyptus coolabah, commonly known as coolibah, is a eucalypt found throughout Australia from arid inland to coastal regions. The plant is commonly called coolibah or coolabah, the name being a loanword from the Indigenous Australian Yuwaaliyaay word, “gulabaa”.
Here YOLO Man takes a line from the song and rests under the shade of a coolabah tree.
