This large painting was made during the Melbourne lockdowns 2020. Each day I would listen to the Premier Dan Andrews address the press. One of the statements we often heard him say was that “we” (the government) are creating a “roadmap” out of lockdown. This idea inspired this work. The 5 km restriction zone made me consider where we live and what we see in a 5km zone. The Covid lockdowns affected people very differently. I was fortunate to be able to go to my studio each day, to work on my art and to enjoy my home and garden. This work is the result of my ponderings about my own “roadmaps” within. How Covid made us face and look at what was important to us and who was important to us. This is a multilayered piece representing my observations, walks and the limitations and freedoms of the Melbourne Covid lockdowns.
