This is part of a series of works titled “YOLO Man Waltzes Matilda”. A look at the folk song Waltzing Matilda, its back stories and history as inspired by the book by W Benjamin Lindner titled “Waltzing Matilda, Australia’s Accidental Anthem” published by Boolarong Press, 2019.
Getting to Dagworth Station in the 1890’s was a long journey. Part of the journey may have been by the Cobb & Co. A rough coach journey. Here YOLO Man holds on to the reigns. One bare leg, one covered in ironstone. The bare leg is a reference to Banjo Paterson’s love and affection for the land. One leg in the city the other connected to the land.
